University of Limerick: Summer School
 

Program Description
The summer program i.e. “Summer Schools in Irish Studies” offer three-week courses on select topics ranging from literature and culture to film, law and creative writing. Students enroll in one course of full-time study for the duration of the program and earn three academic credits.

Coursework
Students earn 3 credits on the program. Choose one class from the following list:
  • Irish Life and Literature (3 credits)
  • Sociological Perspectives on Irish Society (3 credits)
  • Screening Ireland: Ireland in Film and Television(3 credits)
  • Visual Culture in Ireland 1400-1950 (3 credits)
  • Creative Writing (3 credits)
  • Law in Ireland (3 credits)
  • Historical Perspectives of Justice in Ireland: Folk Devils, Fornicators and Families (3 credits)
  • Terrorism, Crime & Justice (3 credits)
  • Irish Myths and Legends (3 credits)
  • Modern Irish Theatre (3 credits)
Accommodation
Participants will stay in apartments on the UL campus. Each apartment contains six single en suite study bedrooms and a shared living area, which includes a kitchen and a lounge with a television. Participants will be able to avail of UL Sport’s excellent indoor and outdoor sporting facilities. The adjacent University Arena includes a 50-metre swimming pool, and the outdoor facilities cater for a wide range of sports.
